Ripon Public Library is beginning a recycling fundraiser. We are asking the community to help protect the environment by donating any used cellular phones, ink jet cartridges, DVD movies / video games, portable DVD players, laptop / notebook computer, MP3 players, video game consoles, digital cameras, digital picture frame, and portable navigation & GPS devices. Donated items may be tax deductible and will be recycled in accordance with EPA regulations or refurbished and sold. 100% of the proceeds will help fund programs and services at the Ripon Public Library. These items can be placed in the drop box at the Library's circulation desk. We greatly appreciate your support! Healthy Aging Presentation with Jenny Tumas Wednesday, September 5, 2007 1:30 p.m. Silver Creek Meeting Room Join us for an informative presentation from the owner of Marigold Yoga. Event is free and open to the public. Y.A.P. Yarn Addicts @ Play will resume in September. Efforts will be geared toward philanthropic knitting in support of local charitable agencies. * * * * * * * * * EVENTS FOR TEENS Be on the look out for Teen Read Week Activities coming in October! * * * * * * * * * * UPCOMING EVENTS FOR CHILDREN Storytime Offerings @ Ripon Public Library Little Ones Lapsit LOL will take place on Tuesdays at 9:45 a.m., Sept 11 through October 16. Registration begins Tuesday Sept 4. LOL is designed for 18-30 month old toddlers and lasts about 20 minutes. Focus is on music, movement, books, language and pre-literacy skills. Ideally, caregivers attend with one child, that child sitting in their lap, encouraging that they jointly participate in the program. For those with younger or older siblings in tow, special considerations and arrangements will be made available. Contact Linda DeCramer for details. Time for Tykes Tykes will take place on Wednesdays at 9:45 a.m. September 12 through October 17. Registration begins September. Tykes, is designed for 2 ? - 4 year olds and will last from 30-45 minutes. Focus will be on music, movement, books, language, crafts and developing pre-literacy skills. Storytime is a lively and fun way for caregivers to interact with their children while learning a love of language and books. Registration is required and begins Tuesday, September 4. If you are interested in donating items for the book sale, please bring the items in during the Library's open hours. Many types of items are accepted with some exceptions: 1. Clean, gently used books only 2. NO mold or water damage 3. NO textbooks / encyclopedias 4. NO outdated computer or other technical manuals A book drop bin is provided inside the library entrance, near the elevator, for book sale donations. Book Discussion Group The Friends of the Ripon Public Library book discussion group meets once a month in the library's Nash Room. Books are selected by members of the group, and the library borrows copies from other libraries for everyone who is interested. Books are usually by American or English authors, but may include some by authors writing in a foreign language. The selection for September will be "The Agony and the Ecstasy". The Friends of the Library sponsor activities in support of The Ripon Public Library. Looking for a great gift? How about a Friends of the Library gift membership? New members are always welcome!!
