NEWS FROM THE RIPON PUBLIC LIBRARY
Be sure to check out our great selection of new magazines!
Featured new magazine of October: "Bride's".
This magazine seeks to be the only source needed by prospective brides and grooms; indeed, its mission is to be "the authority on all things bridal; a captivating voice that speaks to the engaged market with elegance and finesse". Within this capacity, "Bride's" also seeks a wider audience, appealing to brides of all ages. Numerous question and answer columns answer specific questions on fashion, beauty, reception, etiquette, sex, and travel. Snapshots from real weddings also offer plenty of ideas and unlike some bridal magazines, the editors do realize that weddings are often done on a budget and offers practical suggestions.

Costume Design Workshop
Tuesday, October 17, 2006, 6:30 p.m.
Lower Level Meeting Room
Local interior designer and veteran costume maker, Sam Stieber, will provide you with tips and tricks to create interesting costumes out of items you probably already have around the house. These costumes would be appropriate for Halloween, or to help you get started with your costume ideas for participation in the annual Dickens of a Christmas costume contest.
Knitting Group
Thursdays, 6:30-7:45 p.m.
Anyone with an interest in knitting, crocheting, or other stitching crafts, is encouraged to join others for stitching and fellowship in the lower level of the library. Everyone is invited; no age requirements and no experience necessary.
A joint project, for philanthropic giving, is typically underway, although stitchers are welcome to bring their own projects to work on as well. Joint projects are created out of donated yarn. (Yarn donations are always welcome.) The current joint project is the creation of 3-4 blankets to be donated to the Linus Project, which provides blankets to people in need.
