NEWS FROM THE RIPON PUBLIC LIBRARY
December 2006
Magazine Update
Be sure to check out our great selection of new magazines!
Featured new magazine of December: "Cosmopolitan".
The focus of Cosmo is on the "Cosmo Girl" and her needs: sex, looks, relationships, success. Work is less prominently featured, although each issue includes an item or two devoted to careers and personal financial management. Entertainment is featured in "Cosmo Informer," which focuses on trends, films and celebrity gossip. Feature stories highlight celebrities and sex and relationship articles with a "pop-psych" bent on such topics as extramarital affairs and keeping a man interested. Each issue also has several reader-contributed features.
Book Delivery Service for the Homebound
The Ripon Public Library has begun a book delivery service for the homebound in the community. Books can be delivered on a once monthly schedule to patrons living within the city limits. The Library has a great selection of fiction, nonfiction, audiovisual, and large print materials. To sign up yourself or someone you know, please stop by the Library Circulation Desk or call the Library at 920-748-6160.
Thank you!
The Ripon Public Library would like to extend a big thank you to all of the folks who helped with the First Annual Silent Auction! The auction was a huge big success helping to fund the performance of "The Legend of Old Befana" on December 2! The final bidders scramble took place on Sunday, November 19 and raised $947.
Speak Up For Your Library
Sign up to receive a monthly email update on library issues and occasional alerts about legislation affecting libraries. You'll be provided with information and perspective about those issues and will be urged to call, write or email lawmakers on significant issues of interest.
Your comments to elected officials can make a difference. Legislators have commented that most issues draw few comments and that as few as a half-dozen calls, letters, or emails from constituents can influence their decision-making.
By signing up, you'll provide us the opportunity to quickly notify you about issues that develop so you can take action if you choose. This effective form of communication also helps hold down expenses.
So make your voice heard. Sign up to participate today! You can sign up online at http://www.winnefox.org/email.asp.
